Jonathan Masters
Called to the Bar in 2009

Jonathan joined Chambers following pupillage in 2010.

Specialising in criminal law, Jonathan has been a tenant at Fenners since successfully completing his pupillage there in 2010. In addition to his specialist areas of practice he continues to maintain a general common law practice.

Jonathan is qualified to accept instructions from members of the public by direct access.

He is regularly instructed by both the CPS and solicitors representing defendants in criminal matters throughout East Anglia.


  • Financial Remedy: all matters of divorce and financial remedy including maintenance pending suit; enforcement proceedings, cases involving interveners, and claims involving unmarried couples under TOLATA and Schedule 1 of the Children Act
  • Family Law Act Applications: non-molestation and occupation orders
  • Private Law Children: applications for child arrangement orders, including those involving allegations of domestic violence, emotional and sexual abuse, specific issue and prohibited steps orders, internal relocation and leave to remove from the jurisdiction and abduction


Jonathan is Direct Access qualified and is therefore able to accept instructions directly from clients.

In addition to his family practice, he has considerable experience as an advocate in criminal cases. The focus of his family practice is on Financial Remedy but he is also instructed in a full range of Private Law Children matters and injunctions.


Jonathan has specialised in criminal practice throughout his career at the Bar and has considerable experience as a junior advocate in all areas of general criminal work.

Jonathan prosecutes and defends in both the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court throughout East Anglia and the surrounding area.

He has regularly advised upon appeals of both conviction and sentence and has appeared in the Court of Appeal.
