FDR Evaluator Profiles
Paul Hollow
Paul Hollow was called to the Bar in 1981 and joined Fenners Chambers in 1982 where he remained until his retirement from the Bar in 2019. Throughout that time he maintained a mixed practise with an emphasis on family law and personal injury claims. He was named in the Legal 500 in 2005 and subsequently and in addition to his personal practice he was Head of Chambers for two stints overseeing the growth and development of Chambers together with the management team.
He was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 1999 and continues to sit in that role now with the benefit of 25 years experience in that role. He has authority to sit in all areas of family work (private law children, public law and serious financial remedy) in addition to the full range of civil law. He usually sits between 80 –100 days a year.
In addition to sitting as a DDJ, Paul has undertaken Private Financial Dispute Resolution conferences since his retirement from the Bar. He has conducted PFDR conferences remotely and at a football stadium in addition to the usual venues of Barristers’ Chambers and Solicitors’ Offices. His success rate in leading the parties to a settlement is very high with the vast majority of his conferences concluding with an agreed settlement. His policy is to be flexible in his approach depending on what best suits the parties and what is most likely to lead to a settlement and he is very willing to keep the conference going until all prospect of a settlement has gone.
