Nick Mason‑Williams​

Nick joined chambers in March 2023, having completed pupillage with chambers. Nick’s practice incorporates most areas of civil and family law.

Prior to pupillage, Nick represented homelessness applicants and tenants in housing disputes as a caseworker for a regional legal charity. He has also volunteered as an advocate representing benefit claimants in appeals against PIP and ESA decision before the First-tier Tribunal.

Nick has a particular focus on financial remedies, cohabitations disputes, property and probate matters, including possession cases and TOLATA matters where these issues overlap. He regularly appears in courts across East Anglia, London and Midlands. Nick is able to advise in writing and conference, as well as with settling proceedings.

Nick accepts instructions from solicitors and on a direct access basis.

In his spare time, Nick is an avid cook, reader and musician, playing guitar, bass and mandolin. He is currently learning Spanish and Danish.

PRIVACY POLICY

Nick regularly acts in matrimonial finance, private children and protective injunction proceedings. He has represented clients at all stages of proceedings and provided advice on merits and settlement options in proceedings for financial remedies.

Nick has experience in financial remedies proceedings including disputes regarding non-disclosure of real property, inheritances, conduct allegations, trust disputes, and international property, in addition to cases with complex discrete legal issues. In child arrangement proceedings, he has experience in dealing with cases concerning allegations of parental alienation, domestic abuse and controlling behaviour.

Recently, Nick has acted in multiple cohabitation disputes where claims have been made under TLATA and is able to advise in respect of such claims.

Nick has significant experience in landlord and tenant disputes from his employment prior to pupillage and accepts instructions in possession proceedings, disrepair, regulatory housing actions, and injunctions. He has advised on disputes regarding residential and commercial property, including TOLATA claims in respect of commercial and residential premises, disrepair and dilapidations claims, as well as the enforceability of covenants.

Nick is able to advise and settle pleadings in respect of residential and property disputes.

Nick has a growing probate practice and acts in an advisory capacity, as well as representing clients at court. He has advised on a broad range of probate issues, including provisions for dependants, options for administering estates where there are untraceable beneficiaries, the validity and construction of wills, and the distribution of property under the rules of intestacy.

Drawing upon his broader experience, Nick is also able to assist in advising on, and representing parties at court for, possession proceedings arising from the administration of estates.

Nick regularly represents parties in commercial disputes, including contractual disputes and credit hire claims. He has advised on consumer rights disputes and misrepresentation claims.

Drawing upon his broad civil experience, Nick is able to advise on a variety of commercial disputes, as well as drafting pleadings and providing representation at court.
